Jools Holland visits Whitgift House for Jubilee Celebrations

This week at Whitgift House our residents were treated to an extraordinary visit by musical icon Jools Holland.

This week at Whitgift House our residents were treated to an extraordinary visit by musical icon Jools Holland. Jools is currently on tour with his band, Jools Holland & his Rhythm & Blues Orchestra, and played at Fairfield Halls, Croydon on the 15th June. The band is led by boogie-woogie pianist Jools Holland who formed the band in 1994. The current group boasts a 20-piece band consisting of piano, organ, drums, female vocals several guitars and several other elements.

Our Jubilee celebrations have been thoroughly enjoyed by our residents at Whitgift Care, from the opening event Trooping of Colour, our Jubilee tea party and our Epsom Derby sweep stake. To round off our Platinum Jubilee celebrations at Whitgift Care, Jools visited Whitgift House to mark the occasion. With an impromptu performance on the piano in the community hall and the planting of a plum tree in the gardens the event was greatly enjoyed by the residents of the house.

Our very own Whitgift House resident Peter Price, formerly an Archbishop, is a personal friend of Jools and invited him to the house to round of the Platinum Jubilee celebrations when he realised, he would be in Croydon performing later that night.
