The Whitgift Care Summer Garden Parties are always a highlight of the annual events calendar. The Homes collectively raised over £2000 for charities and the resident’s social funds.
Residents were joined by family and friends, staff and The Whitgift Foundation Governor, Mayor of Croydon Cllr Toni Letts, for another wonderful Wilhelmina House Garden Party on Saturday 4 August.
The Home raised a fantastic £500 for the Royal Marsden Hospital through generous donations and raffle and games organised on the day. Despite, the rain everyone enjoyed the live music, a delicious buffet and the chance to win wonderful prizes.
“The Wilhelmina House garden party was a very joyous occasion. My friends from neighboring flats also had a very pleasant afternoon” Jean, Wilhelmina House resident.
The Whitgift House Garden Party raised an incredible £1400 which will go towards the residents’ social fund throughout the year. Residents and guests were treated to a fantastic choice of stalls and talented roaming musicians. They had a splendid afternoon, enjoying live music and fantastic stalls.
The wonderful plant stall proved to be popular, raising a fantastic £200 – selling bedding plants, tomatoes, hanging baskets. There was also a stall stacked with delicious cakes while another sold an array of cosmetics.
Resident and guests who attended the Whitgift Almshouses Garden Party raised over £250 for a charity which will be selected by residents at a later date. The quadrangle was a hive of activity with people enjoying a delicious treat of strawberries and cream while taking part in the tombola and raffle.
